## Synopsis

On the Case with Paula Zahn (2009-present) is a US true crime documentary series created for Investigation Discovery. Award winning journalist Paula Zahn hosts and anchors each episode, unravelling shocking murders and disappearances by sitting down with the people closest to them: lawyers, the victim's family, detectives and, in some cases, the convicted killers themselves. The engine of every episode is the gradual reconstruction of a single case, with testimony and interview footage piecing together what happened and why the investigation took the turns it did. Across twenty-nine seasons and more than four hundred episodes it is an open-ended, case-of-the-week format rather than one continuing story, so each hour stands on its own. Its register is measured and journalistic rather than sensational, with a steady, probing tone that lets grief, doubt and procedural detail carry the weight. Viewers who enjoy long-form true crime work will find resonance with The Jinx, Making a Murderer and The Staircase, all built on patient interviews and the slow accumulation of evidence. The result is a serious, sober companion for anyone drawn to real murder cases told through the voices of those still living with them.
