## Synopsis

Look Around You (2002-2005) is a British surreal sketch comedy series created by Peter Serafinowicz and Robert Popper for BBC Two. Running for two short seasons totalling fourteen half-hour episodes, it parodies the earnest style of 1970s and 1980s school science broadcasts. Robert Popper plays Jack Morgan and Peter Serafinowicz plays Peter Packard, with Olivia Colman as Pam Bachelor and Josie D'Arby as Pealy Maghti sharing the spotlight in the recurring sketches. The engine of each episode is a mock-educational lesson in which a deadpan presenter and a solemn narrator invite viewers to look around them at a tree, a weather-vane, a discarded lollipop wrapper, and similar mundane things, then reveal an absurd, pseudo-scientific connection between them. Each segment is built from flat deliberate delivery, faux archive footage and dry institutional gravity, so the jokes land through contrast rather than volume. The tone is wry, uncanny and gently bewildering, with a nostalgic affection for the look of old school films. Fans of The Fast Show, Big Train and The Mighty Boosh will find resonance in its blend of surreal character comedy and British deadpan parody.
