## Synopsis

MasterChef (2005-present) is a British reality cooking competition series broadcast on BBC One. Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace preside over a kitchen where amateur home cooks duel under the spotlight for the right to be called MasterChef UK Champion. The engine is simple and gripping: cooks must produce demanding dishes under timed pressure, and each round removes someone from the field until a single winner is crowned. Episodes move briskly through cooking challenges, tense plating moments and frank verdicts from the panel, with the judges' blunt commentary defining the show's sharp, playful register. Originally titled Masterchef Goes Large before being renamed in 2008, the series has run across twenty-two seasons, with each season built as a fresh run of contestants competing in one continuing format rather than separate stories. Its warm, competitive atmosphere and emphasis on food craft give it an appeal similar to The Great British Bake Off and Hell's Kitchen for viewers who enjoy elimination contests and the drama of cooking under scrutiny.
