## Synopsis

The Keepers (2017) is an American true crime docuseries created for Netflix, presented as a single seven-episode limited series. Former students of Sister Catherine Cesnik, a Baltimore nun murdered in 1969, along with former students and researchers Abbie Schaub, Gemma Hoskins, Jean Hargadon Wehner and Tom Nugent, pursue the case decades later. The engine of the series is their stubborn effort to track down aging witnesses, sift old police files and revisit local accounts, while they confront a wall of institutional silence around a priest accused of abuse. Each episode builds methodically on interviews, documents and personal memories, so the investigation feels like a patient, claustrophobic excavation of a community's buried secrets. The tone is sober, grim and emotionally heavy, with moments of quiet grief and anger as the investigators confront the damage done to survivors. Viewers who enjoyed Making a Murderer, The Jinx and Spotlight will find a similar blend of civilian sleuthing, investigative rigor and institutional reckoning. Fans of serialized true crime will find the slow, unresolved pull of the case hard to shake.
