## Synopsis

Afterlife (2005-2006) is a British supernatural mystery drama created by Stephen Volk for ITV1. Lesley Sharp plays Alison Mundy, a medium whose spirit contacts draw in Andrew Lincoln as Robert Bridge, a university lecturer who approaches the supernatural with professional skepticism. Anna Wilson-Jones plays Jude Bridge, whose domestic life is pulled into the strange events. Across fourteen hour-long episodes over two seasons, the engine of the series is the tension between doubt and experience: each episode builds around a new séance, a new contact or a new unexplained event, and Robert's rational instincts are tested against what he cannot explain. The tone is quiet and unsettling rather than gory, with a grounded English setting in contemporary England and a restrained, melancholic atmosphere. Its themes of grief, belief and the limits of reason make it a fit for viewers who enjoy character-driven mysteries. Fans of Ghost Stories, The Medium and Ashes to Ashes will find resonance in its eerie, grounded approach to the uncanny.
