## Synopsis

Trigun (1998) is a Japanese animated space western series created by Yasuhiro Nightow and produced by Madhouse for TV Tokyo. Set in the distant future on a harsh desert planet, the story follows Vash the Stampede, a gunfighter whose legend is so ruthless that he carries a sixty billion dollar bounty, and whose towns empty out at the rumor of his arrival. The real Vash is an enigmatic and conflicted pacifist who usually acts like a complete fool, and his engine is the gap between that myth and the man. Insurance agents Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson are sent to track him and find themselves drawn into his chaotic wake, while the gunman Nicholas D. Wolfwood becomes his closest companion. Each episode is a stand-alone stop on a dusty road, mixing bounty-hunt skirmishes with broad comedy and sudden, lethal gun battles. Its single season is one continuing arc of wandering and moral reckoning. The tone blends slapstick, sincere warmth, and a wistful sense of loss, with a bromance at its heart. Fans of Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star and Mad Max: Fury Road will find resonance in its frontier romance and its mix of humor and violence.
