## Synopsis

Dead Like Me (2003-2004) is a American dark comedy fantasy series created by Bryan Fuller for Showtime. When her life ends abruptly, Georgia 'George' Lass (Ellen Muth) discovers she has been recruited as a grim reaper, collecting the souls of people as they die. Her gruff veteran mentor Rube Sofer (Mandy Patinkin) guides her through the rules of the job, while her family, including mother Joy Lass (Cynthia Stevenson) and sister Reggie Lass (Britt McKillip), struggles with the life she left behind. The engine of each episode is the reaping assignment itself: a stranger's final hours, a bizarre death and a fleeting chance to resolve something unfinished, all carried by George's sardonic narration. The show runs across two seasons and twenty-nine episodes as a stand-alone case-of-the-week format with a serialized thread running underneath. Its tone is wry, morbid and oddly tender, with flashes of melancholy about the living. Fans of Six Feet Under, Pushing Daisies and Beetlejuice will find resonance in its mix of mortality and mordant humor.
