## Synopsis

If Tomorrow Comes (1986) is an American crime drama miniseries created by Sidney Sheldon and Carmen Culver for CBS, adapted from a novel. Madolyn Smith Osborne plays Tracy Whitney, a woman whose engagement and pregnancy collapse after a single phone call, leaving her five years in prison. She emerges cunning, ruthless and determined to survive, and her path crosses that of Tom Berenger's Jeff Stevens, a man as formidable as she is. Liam Neeson plays André Trignant, adding further danger to a story built on a long con and an elaborate criminal caper. Richard Kiley and David Keith round out the principal cast. The series runs as a limited run of three ninety-minute episodes, a tight, self-contained arc rather than an open-ended saga. Its engine is the protagonist's hunger for revenge and her risky partnership with a charming, dangerous accomplice, with each episode moving through schemes, chases and close escapes. The tone is glossy, suspenseful and sweeping, the feel of 1980s network prestige television. Fans of The Count of Monte Cristo, Hustle and The Thorn Birds will find resonance in its wronged heroine, its polished criminal ambition and its melodramatic appetite for reversal.
