## Synopsis

Diagnosis: Murder (1993-2001) is an American network mystery series created by Joyce Burditt for CBS. Dick Van Dyke plays Dr. Mark Sloan, a good-natured, offbeat physician who keeps getting pulled into homicide investigations alongside police detective Jesse Travis (Charlie Schlatter) and Amanda Bentley-Livingston (Victoria Rowell). Barry Van Dyke also appears as Steve Sloan, adding a family thread to the cast. Each episode is built around a self-contained murder case, with Sloan's medical insight and sly curiosity cracking the puzzle while the police work the investigation. The show runs eight seasons and 178 episodes, a long case-of-the-week run in the tradition of classic whodunit television. The tone stays warm, breezy and comforting, with crimes that feel more puzzling than harrowing. Fans of Quincy, M.E., Murder, She Wrote and House, M.D. will find a similar blend of medical detection, amiable lead characters and gentle suspense. Its tangled web of clues rewards viewers who enjoy guessing the culprit alongside the protagonist.
