## Synopsis

The Tribe (1999-2003) is a New Zealand science fiction drama series created by Raymond Thompson and produced by Cloud 9. Set in a future where a deadly virus has wiped out every adult, the show follows a group of children who must fend for themselves across a ruined landscape. Bray (Dwayne Cameron) and Trudy (Antonia Prebble) anchor the ensemble, with Ebony (Meryl Cassie), Tai-San (Michelle Ang) and Lex (Caleb Ross) among the young survivors whose daily struggle is for food, shelter and loyalty within their fragile community. The engine of the series is survival itself: scavenging, rival groups, and the constant threat of an unforgiving environment shape each episode, while the bonds between the characters give the story its emotional weight. Running for five seasons and 260 episodes, it unfolds as one continuing serialized story rather than isolated adventures. Its tone is earnest, wistful and quietly hopeful, with a melancholy undercurrent about childhood lost too early. Fans of Lost, The 100 and Survivors will find resonance in its blend of youthful ensemble drama and post-apocalyptic dread, delivered with the modest production sensibility of late 1990s television.
