## Synopsis

My Wife and Kids (2001-2005) is an American family sitcom created by Damon Wayans and Don Reo for ABC. Damon Wayans plays Michael Kyle, a loving husband and self-appointed patriarch who rules his household with a distinct, humorous parenting style, insisting he is the head of the family while his wife Janet Kyle (Tisha Campbell) quietly keeps things running. Their children, including Michael Kyle Jr. (George O. Gore II), Claire (Jennifer Freeman) and Kady (Parker McKenna Posey), provide the friction of everyday household life. Each episode is built from a small domestic problem, a school issue, a neighborhood visitor or a sibling squabble, that Michael tackles with exaggerated confidence and a lesson delivered with comic flourish. The show runs five seasons and 123 episodes as a multi-camera sitcom in the same family mold as The Cosby Show and Family Matters. Set in a middle-class Connecticut household in the early 2000s, it has a warm, breezy, inspirational tone, with humor that lands on love and family loyalty rather than cynicism. Fans of family sitcoms with a strong comic patriarch will find it comfortable and familiar.
