## Synopsis

I Love Lucy (1951-1957) is a American multi-camera sitcom created by Bob Carroll Jr., Jess Oppenheimer and Madelyn Pugh for CBS, produced by Desilu. Lucille Ball plays Lucy Ricardo, a restless housewife who schemes to break into the nightclub act of her husband Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz), a Cuban bandleader working at the Tropicana. Their shared apartment building brings in landlords and best friends Fred and Ethel Mertz (William Frawley and Vivian Vance), whose own marriage bickers its way through every plot. The engine is simple and reliable: Lucy wants a place on stage, Ricky wants her home, and each episode builds a small domestic scheme that spirals into comic chaos. Across six seasons and roughly 180 episodes, the show runs as a standalone-episode sitcom with recurring characters rather than one continuing story. It is a foundational piece of the golden age of television, filmed before a studio audience with broad physical comedy and warm, screwball energy. Fans of The Honeymooners, The Dick Van Dyke Show and Bewitched will find the same domestic farce and affectionate marital squabbling.
