## Synopsis

Flight of the Conchords (2007-2009) is a New Zealand-flavoured musical comedy series created by Jemaine Clement, Bret McKenzie, and James Bobin for HBO. Over two seasons and twenty-two half-hour episodes, it follows the fictionalised duo Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, playing themselves as a struggling two-man digi-folk band who have moved from New Zealand to New York City chasing a music career. Their engine is simple: they want a break, and every attempt to get one stumbles into awkward encounters. Their manager Murray Hewitt (Rhys Darby) works a day job at the New Zealand Consulate, while Mel (Kristen Schaal) is their obsessive married fan and Doug (David Costabile) and Greg (Frank Wood) fill out the local orbit. Each episode is built around small city misadventures punctuated by original songs that sit somewhere between earnest folk and absurd parody. The tone is dry, deadpan, and gently melancholic beneath the jokes, with a low-budget charm that rewards patient viewers. Fans of Little Britain, The Eric Andre Show, and Garfunkel and Oates will find resonance in its blend of sketch-like absurdity and musical performance. Its loose, character-driven structure makes it an easy show to dip into one episode at a time.
