## Synopsis

Charlie Jade (2005) is a Canadian and South African science fiction series created by Chris Roland and Robert Wertheimer, first broadcast on the Space channel. Filmed mainly in Cape Town, it stars Jeffrey Pierce as Charlie Jade, a detective from a parallel universe who finds himself trapped in our world. Alongside him are Michael Filipowich as 01 Boxer, Michele Burgers as Essa Rompkin, and Tyrone Benskin as Karl Lubinsky, each tied to the strange crossover between the two realities. The engine of the show is Charlie's search for a way back while he pieces together the political and social differences between his universe and ours. Each episode is a sixty-minute mix of investigation, chase, and dislocation, with the crime-solving detective format grounding the speculative premise. The series runs for a single season of twenty episodes and was never resolved. Its tone is tense and gritty, with a sense of paranoia and unease as the protagonist navigates an unfamiliar city. Fans of Fringe and Sliders will find resonance in its mirrored worlds and displaced-hero structure, and viewers drawn to outsider science fiction will find a grounded, moody take on the genre.
