## Synopsis

Rules of Engagement (2007-2013) is a American multi-camera sitcom created by Tom Hertz for CBS. Newly engaged Adam Rhodes (Oliver Hudson) and Jennifer Morgan (Bianca Kajlich) sit at one end of the relationship curve, while long-married Jeff Bingham (Patrick Warburton) and Audrey Bingham (Megyn Price) sit at the other, and single bachelor Russell Dunbar (David Spade) prowls the dating scene at a safe distance from both. Each episode drops the friends into a fresh stage of romance, from first date jitters to the grind of a long marriage, and lets their blunt advice, petty rivalries and wounded pride collide in the apartment and bar settings where they gather. Its engine is the gap between what the couples promise and what they actually do, with Russell serving as the cynical foil who keeps undercutting sentiment. The show runs across seven seasons and roughly one hundred episodes as a continuing comedy about friends rather than a case-of-the-week format. Built on brisk, breezy banter and a mood that stays warm and cozy even when the jokes turn raunchy, it sits in the tradition of American relationship sitcoms. Fans of How I Met Your Mother, Friends and Dharma and Greg will find the same mix of ensemble chemistry and romantic comedy.
