## Synopsis

The Crystal Maze (1990-1995) is a British reality game show created by Jacques Antoine and produced by Chatsworth Television for Channel 4. Hosted by Edward Tudor-Pole and Richard O'Brien across six seasons of thirteen episodes each, it follows teams of six contestants moving through a giant maze built from four themed zones set in different periods of time and space. Their goal is to complete challenges that reward time crystals, the currency that buys seconds inside the glittering centrepiece known as the Crystal Dome for a final challenge. The engine of each episode is the race against the clock: teams must decide which tasks to attempt, pool their strengths, and spend their crystals wisely before time runs out. The show is a light entertainment format rather than a scripted story, so its shape comes from repeated episodes built on the same structure, with the zones changing their look and puzzles from one episode to the next. The tone is playful and breezy, with a ticking countdown adding a flicker of tension to every challenge. Fans of Fort Boyard, Takeshi's Castle and Got What It Takes will find the same blend of physical challenge, team competition and prize-driven spectacle. Its colourful sets and nostalgic 1990s British television charm make it an easy, cheerful watch for families and game show lovers.
