## Synopsis

Oh! My Goddess (1993-1994) is a Japanese animated romantic comedy adapted from Kousuke Fujishima's manga and produced by KSS and Kodansha. College student Keiichi Morisato (voiced by Masami Kikuchi) dials a wrong number while ordering food and reaches the Goddess Hotline, summoning the radiant Belldandy (voiced by Kikuko Inoue) out of a mirror. Their awkward new domestic life, shifting from a dormitory to an old shrine, is complicated when Belldandy's mischievous sisters Urd (voiced by Yumi Touma) and Skuld (voiced by Aya Hisakawa) move in. The engine of the story is the comic friction of a divine being learning ordinary life, from clumsy magic and household mishaps to the sisters' rivalries and the tender pull between Keiichi and Belldandy. Told across five short episodes of roughly thirty minutes each, it is a compact original video animation with the soft, cheerful register of classic bishojo anime. Its tone is warm, breezy and gently romantic, with a cozy shrine-bound setting in 1990s Japan. Fans of Urusei Yatsura and I Dream of Jeannie will find similar pleasures in its supernatural mischief and charming romance, and the series rewards viewers who enjoy light, affectionate anime comedy.
