## Synopsis

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero (1983-1992) is a United States syndicated animated action series created by Ron Friedman and produced by Sunbow Productions and DiC. Across four seasons and 139 half-hour episodes, an elite team of soldiers led by Duke (voiced by Ted Harrison) and Flint (voiced by Bill Ratner) battles the Cobra organization and its masked leader Cobra Commander (voiced by Christopher Collins). Each episode is largely built around a self-contained scheme, with Cobra attempting to seize control of the weather, build unstoppable weapons, or engineer super-warriors, and the team cleverly interrupting it before the world falls. Principal voice cast also includes Maurice LaMarche as the mercenary Destro and Mary McDonald-Lewis as Lady Jaye. The tone is brisk, earnest and adventurous, with a nostalgic 1980s cartoon energy, colorful vehicles and gadgets, and an uncomplicated moral clarity. Fans of Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe will find the same blend of toy-driven spectacle and weekly good-versus-evil battles.
