## Synopsis

Relic Hunter (1999-2002) is a Canadian action adventure series created by Gil Grant and broadcast on Citytv and in syndication. Tia Carrere stars as Sydney Fox, a college professor and globe-trotting relic hunter who recovers ancient artifacts and returns them to museums or to the descendants of their original owners. She is aided by her linguistic assistant Nigel, played by Christien Anholt, and by the air-headed secretary Claudia, played by Lindy Booth. Each episode is a self-contained case of the week, built around a chase for a particular object and the scheming rival hunters who want it for profit, with fights, clever escapes and globe-spanning locations giving the stories a brisk pace. Across three seasons of 22 episodes each, the show keeps a light, playful register, mixing wit, camaraderie and pulpy derring-do in the manner of classic Indiana Jones style adventure. Fans of Xena: Warrior Princess and The Librarians will find a similar blend of heroic action, humour and mythic treasure hunting. The result is an easygoing, escapist ride that suits family viewing and a comfortable weekly rotation.
