## Synopsis

Blue Submarine No. 6 (1998-2000) is a Japanese animated science fiction series created for television and produced by the studio GONZO, adapted from a manga. Across four half-hour episodes, the crew of the Blue fleet, led by the submarine's commander Tetsu Hayami (voiced by Hozumi Goda) with Mayumi Kino (voiced by Yukana) and Shidll Dedson (voiced by Unsho Ishizuka) among the principal crew, hunts the living sea creatures bred by the disgraced scientist Zorndyke. His creations thrive in the oceans and are designed to destroy humanity, and the crew must track and confront them beneath the waves. The engine of the show is a steady run of submarine missions, each built around a dangerous encounter, pursuit, and a moral question about what humanity deserves. Its tone is grim and atmospheric, with a melancholic undercurrent and a sense of cold dread that colors each deep-sea confrontation. The series has the compact shape of a limited miniseries, one continuous story told in a single short season. Fans of Das Boot, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell will find resonance in its blend of military submarine drama, anime spectacle, and bleak speculation about the future of the planet.
