## Synopsis

Hoarders (2009-present) is an American reality docuseries that airs on Lifetime and A&E. Each episode follows two people whose compulsive saving has filled their homes and threatened their health, relationships and safety. Their stories are shaped by the work of professional extreme cleanup experts such as Matt Paxton and Corey Chalmers, who guide each household through a difficult clean-out, while psychologists including Robin Zasio and psychiatrist Melva Green help them confront the reasons behind the compulsion. The engine of every episode is the tension between the desire to keep belongings and the pressure to let go before a personal crisis escalates, with cameras capturing cluttered rooms, tearful confessions and hard-won progress. The series has run for sixteen seasons and well over a hundred and fifty episodes, a format that stays rooted in a single clear premise. Its tone is candid and sympathetic, unflinching about squalor yet compassionate toward the people living inside it. Viewers who enjoy Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners, My Strange Addiction and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will find the same mix of raw exposure and transformation. Its emotional register is sobering, intimate and quietly hopeful, with mental health at its core.
