## Synopsis

Cowboy Bebop (1998-1999) is a Japanese science fiction western anime series produced by Sunrise and Bandai Visual, broadcast on TV Tokyo and WOWOW. Set in 2071, roughly fifty years after a hyperspace gateway accident left Earth nearly uninhabitable, it follows bounty hunter Spike Spiegel (voiced by Koichi Yamadera) and his partners Jet Black (Unsho Ishizuka) and Faye Valentine (Megumi Hayashibara) as they chase criminals across colonized planets and moons for contract rewards. Their engine is simple and restless: each bounty pulls them into a new town, a new fight, and a new lead, while the shadow of Spike's past and a crime syndicate keep catching up. The series runs as a single 26-episode season, mixing stand-alone bounty episodes with a slowly building backstory. Its neo-noir mood is carried by a jazz and blues score, moody lighting, and dry humor, giving the show a cool, melancholic register. Fans of Samurai Champloo, Firefly and Trigun will find the same blend of genre swagger, wandering outlaws, and wistful character work.
