## Synopsis

My Boss, My Hero (2006) is a Japanese Nippon Television miniseries, a single ten-episode run of one-hour drama-comedy blending gangster melodrama with high school coming-of-age. Makio Sakaki (Tomoya Nagase), a 27-year-old determined to become his father's successor in the underworld, must enroll and pass high school to prove his worth. Along the way he navigates rival students, loyal friends and a complicated romance with Hikari Umemura (Yui Aragaki), with Jun Sakurakouji (Yuya Tegoshi) and Yuriko Minami (Yuu Kashii) rounding out the principal circle. The engine is simple and concrete: a yakuza-bred outsider in a school uniform, scrapping over turf and reputation while trying to earn the respect of classmates and family. Each episode mixes classroom friction, street-level brawls and sincere bonds of righteousness. The tone is earnest and playful, with a warm, sometimes wistful undercurrent beneath the bravado. Set in contemporary Japan, it sits in the tradition of Japanese school dramas and gangster melodramas. Fans of Gokusen and Kamen Teacher will find resonance in its blend of delinquent antics and heartfelt growth.
