## Synopsis

Asi (2007-2009) is a Turkish television drama serial created by Tomris Giritlioğlu and broadcast on Kanal D across two seasons and seventy-one episodes. Tuba Büyüküstün plays the title character Asiye "Asi" Kozcuoğlu, whose life is woven into the Kozcuoğlu household alongside Çetin Tekindor as Ihsan Kozcuoğlu and Nur Sürer as Neriman Kozcuoğlu. Murat Yildirim appears as Demir Doğan, and Selma Ergeç plays Defne Kozcuoğlu, with Tuncel Kurtiz as Cemal Ağa adding an older presence to the cast. The series is built as a long-form family serial in the tradition of Turkish television melodrama, with each episode driven by the emotional ties between relatives and lovers and by the pressures those ties create inside a close-knit household. Its register is warm, sentimental and heightened, the kind of sustained interpersonal drama that suits viewers who follow a story over months. Fans of Muhteşem Yüzyıl, Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne? and Kara Para Aşk will find a familiar pleasure in its serialized romance and family loyalty. The setting is contemporary Turkey during the years of broadcast.
