## Synopsis

Misfits (2009-2013) is a British science fiction comedy-drama series created by Howard Overman for E4. Five young offenders serving community service, including Simon Bellamy (Iwan Rheon), Kelly Bailey (Lauren Socha), Curtis Donovan (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett), Alisha Daniels (Antonia Thomas) and Rudy Wade (Joseph Gilgun), are caught in a strange electrical storm that leaves each of them with a different, often unwanted superpower. Their engine is the tension between their newfound abilities and the mundane demands of their probation: they must hide their powers from supervisors, dodge their own bad choices, and try to keep their lives from unravelling. Each season unfolds as a run of self-contained episodes threaded through a continuing story, with the group's shifting membership and escalating troubles building across five seasons. Set in present-day English towns, the series offers a gritty, profane, sharply funny view of working-class youth. Its tone blends irreverent humor, bleak realism and sudden tenderness, in the vein of Skins, Heroes and Being Human. Fans of dark British teen dramas will find resonance in its raw comedy and flawed heroes.
