## Synopsis

Murderland (2009) is a British three-part crime drama miniseries created by David Pirie for ITV1. Haunted by her mother's murder when she was a child, Carrie Walsh (Bel Powley) returns to the unsolved killing determined to learn the truth so she can finally move on with her life. Her investigation runs alongside the veteran detective Douglas Hain (Robbie Coltrane), who is leading the case, and the story also gives voice to the murdered woman, Sally (Lucy Cohu). Each of the three hour-long episodes shifts through these viewpoints, so the mystery is pieced together from several inner perspectives rather than a single detective's lens. The engine is intimate: Carrie's yearning grows more intense as she moves closer to the detective, and the emotional pull of the search matters as much as the clues. Atmosphere is brooding, grief soaked and restrained, with a quiet dread that suits a viewer who wants a contained, slow burn mystery. Fans of Broadchurch, The Killing and The Missing will find resonance in its British procedural patience and its focus on the people shattered by a single death. Being a single limited run, it offers a complete, self-contained story across its three episodes.
