## Synopsis

The Slave Hunters (2010) is a South Korean historical action drama miniseries created by Kwak Jung-hwan for KBS2. Set in 17th century Joseon Korea, it follows Lee Dae-gil (Jang Hyuk), a nobleman's son whose family was ruined when a slave burned down their house and fled with his sister Un-nyun. Driven by revenge, Dae-gil becomes a feared slave hunter, hardened by years of street life and dedicated to finding the one woman he has ever loved. His pursuit crosses paths with Song Tae-ha (Oh Ji-ho), a general who has himself been reduced to slavery after a false accusation and is now on the run. Both men are drawn into a love triangle with Un-nyun, who now lives under the name Kim Hye-won (Lee Da-hae), a nobleman's daughter. The engine of the story is chase, disguise and class tension across a 24-episode arc, with each episode moving the hunt forward through roads, markets and provincial towns. Tone shifts between brooding melodrama and kinetic action, with a romantic undercurrent that keeps the stakes personal. Fans of Jewel in the Palace and Hero will find resonance in its period texture and its pursuit-driven drama, though viewers wanting tight action may find the fight scenes uneven. A single-season miniseries, it delivers a complete arc in one run.
