## Synopsis

Miranda (2009-2013) is a British sitcom created by and starring Miranda Hart for BBC One. Hart plays Miranda, a socially inept woman who always seems to find the most awkward possible situation, whether she is running a joke shop with her best friend Stevie (Sarah Hadland), dodging the pushy schemes of her mother Penny (Patricia Hodge), or trying to win the attention of her longtime crush Gary (Tom Ellis). The engine of each episode is simple: Miranda wants to appear composed and romantic, and every attempt backfires in a fresh and humiliating way, often played straight to the camera for comic asides. The show runs three seasons of six episodes each, eighteen episodes in total, and it stays grounded in everyday routines, shop counters, family dinners and awkward dates rather than broad gags. Its tone is warm, breezy and affectionate, with a gentle undercurrent of loneliness beneath the slapstick. Fans of Fleabag, The Office (UK) and Gavin & Stacey will find resonance in its mix of cringe humour, female-led romantic misfire and ensemble warmth. Set in a contemporary Surrey-area England, it remains a comfortable, funny and deeply relatable portrait of a woman who keeps trying anyway.
