## Synopsis

Iris (2009) is a South Korean action thriller series created for KBS2 and produced by Taewon Entertainment and AStory, a single-season limited run of twenty one-hour episodes. Two childhood friends from the South Korean military are recruited into a clandestine black ops agency, and the story follows their shifting loyalties as they are pulled into revenge, fugitive chases, and a hidden government conspiracy. Lee Byung-hun plays Kim Hyeon-Jun, a driven operative at the center of the agency's dangerous work, alongside Kim So-yeon as Kim Seon-Hwa and Jung Jun-ho as Jin Sa-Woo, whose personal ties are tested by every mission. Each episode builds the engine of a continuing operation: agents must track targets, evade pursuers, and navigate betrayals while the stakes of inter-korean tension grow heavier. The tone is tense and propulsive, with brooding moments of loyalty and grief surfacing between the set pieces. Set in present-day South Korea and the divided peninsula, it has the scale of a big-budget spy film compressed into television. Fans of Alias and Spy (2015) will find resonance in its espionage mechanics and its blend of personal drama with state secrets.
