## Synopsis

Buso Renkin (2006-2007) is a Japanese anime action fantasy series created by Nobuhiro Watsuki and produced by XEBEC for TV Tokyo, adapted from his manga. High school student Kazuki Muto (voiced by Jun Fukuyama) is killed while saving a mysterious girl, Tokiko Tsumura (Ryoka Yuzuki), from a serpentine homunculus. Tokiko revives him by placing a Kakugane medallion in his chest as a replacement heart, granting him the power to fight back. The engine of the series is a steady cycle of confrontations with homunculi that prey on people, with Kazuki and his allies forced to master their alchemical weapons while protecting the people around them. His younger sister Mahiro Muto (Aya Hirano) anchors the family stakes. The show runs for a single 26-episode season and is a shonen-style battle story with an earnest, adventurous tone, carrying themes of friendship, transformation and sacrifice. Set in contemporary Japan, it blends a school-life setting with supernatural combat. Fans of Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater will find resonance in its alchemical battles and young heroes.
