## Synopsis

The Golden Palace (1992-1993) is a American multi-camera sitcom spin-off created by Susan Harris for CBS, a single-season comedy of 24 half-hour episodes. Betty White as Rose Nylund, Rue McClanahan as Blanche Devereaux and Estelle Getty as Sophia Petrillo carry the show after the Golden Girls household has broken up. The three women invest in a Miami hotel that turns out to have been stripped of nearly all its staff, leaving manager Roland Wilson (Don Cheadle) and chef Chuy Castillos (Cheech Marin) as the only employees. The engine of each episode is the trio being forced to handle every hotel chore themselves while their old rivalries, pasts and quirks spill into the lobby. Episodes unfold as a series of workplace mishaps and bickering exchanges rather than a continuing serialized arc, with the comedy resting on sardonic one-liners and familiar ensemble chemistry. The tone is breezy, warm and nostalgic, with a family-friendly sensibility. Fans of The Golden Girls, Designing Women and Frasier will find resonance in its tart dialogue and older-cast domestic comedy set in 1990s Miami.
