## Synopsis

Last Exile (2003-2012) is a Japanese animated steampunk adventure series produced by GONZO and aired on TV Tokyo. Young van ship sky porters Claus (voiced by Mayumi Asano) and Lavie are hired to deliver a mysterious girl, Alvis, to the battleship Silvana, and soon find themselves tangled in an aerial conflict between two countries locked in an eternal war of enormous air battleships. The engine of the show is a simple courier job that keeps escalating, with the pair dodging airborne patrols and drifting deeper into a conflict neither of them chose. Across two seasons and forty-seven episodes, the story unfolds through dogfights, cargo runs and tense standoffs over the clouds, with each episode built around a new skirmish. Set in a retro-futuristic world of brass-trimmed airships and sprawling sky harbors, the series balances wide-open aerial spectacle with a romantic, wistful register and a gentle warmth in its friendships. Fans of Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water, Laputa: Castle in the Sky and Vision of Escaflowne will find much to love in its bold, romantic vision of flight.
