## Synopsis

Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils (2003) is a Chinese wuxia television drama adapted from Louis Cha's novel of the same title and first broadcast on CCTV. Hu Jun plays Xiao Feng, a formidable martial hero whose sworn loyalties pull him between rival factions, while Jimmy Lin Chih-Ying plays the gentle prince Duan Yu, whose wandering quest brings him into the martial world. Gao Hu appears as the monk Xuzhu, and Liu Yifei plays Wang Yuyan, with Chen Hao and Liu Tao among the other principal figures. The story unfolds across a single forty-episode season, with each stretch built from duels between sects, secret martial manuals, political plots among rival kingdoms, and the tangled romances that bind the characters together. The atmosphere is grand and melancholic, with a strong current of honor, identity and divided loyalty running beneath the spectacle. Set in a mythic medieval China of rivers, mountain monasteries and royal courts, it is a sprawling, character-driven saga for viewers who enjoy in the vein of The Legend of the Condor Heroes and Swordsman II, as well as epic fantasy with large casts such as Game of Thrones.
