## Synopsis

Superjail! (2008-2014) is an American adult animated comedy series created by Ben Gruber, Stephen Warbrick and Christy Karacas for Adult Swim. Its eccentric warden, voiced by David Wain, runs a bizarre maximum security prison whose staff, including The Doctor voiced by Christopher McCulloch, Lord Stingray voiced by Eric Bauza, and Jackknife voiced by Christy Karacas, must keep a sprawling roster of dangerous inmates contained. The engine of each short episode is the chaos that erupts when the facility's absurd rules, rivalries and experiments collide with its volatile prisoners, escalating quickly into grotesque situations played for laughs. Across four seasons and thirty-six episodes of roughly eleven minutes each, the show stays a fast, irreverent cartoon with a deadpan streak and a cult following built on its outlandish tone. The style is brash, surreal and deliberately crude, carrying the sensibility of Adult Swim's cult animation. Fans of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Rick and Morty and Metalocalypse will find resonance in its absurdist humor and its taste for outrageous, boundary-pushing animated mayhem.
