## Synopsis

This Is Jinsy (2010-2014) is a British surreal comedy series created by Justin Chubb and Chris Bran for BBC Three and Sky Atlantic. Written by and starring its creators, the show follows a cast of strange islanders on the fictional island of Jinsy, a place modelled on Guernsey, where the two writers grew up. Chris Bran plays Sporall Lertock and Justin Chubb plays Arbiter Maven, while Janine Duvitski, Geoffrey McGivern and Alice Lowe play recurring residents including Mrs. Goadion, Trince and Soosan Noop. Guest appearances from Jennifer Saunders and Harry Hill add further names to the eccentric roster. The engine of the show is comic oddity: small, peculiar episodes in which the island's bizarre inhabitants pursue ordinary local ambitions in unexpectedly warped ways. Across two series totalling sixteen episodes of roughly half an hour, the tone stays breezy, deadpan and irreverent, with a surreal edge that recalls cult British sketch and absurdist sitcoms. Its insular island setting gives it a self-contained, gently satirical atmosphere. Fans of The Mighty Boosh, Father Ted and Twin Peaks will find resonance in its offbeat characters and dreamlike small-community weirdness.
