## Synopsis

The Gates (2010) is an American supernatural mystery series created by Richard Hatem for ABC. Nick Monahan (Frank Grillo), newly appointed police chief of an idyllic gated community, moves his family from Chicago into a neighborhood of manicured lawns and spotless schools, only to discover that the place is haunted in ways he cannot explain. His wife Sarah Monahan (Marisol Nichols) and neighbors Claire Radcliff (Rhona Mitra) and Dylan Radcliff (Luke Mably) seem to hide their own agendas, and Nick's police work becomes a slow investigation into vampires, succubi, and the dark bargains that keep the community running. Each episode peels back another layer of suburban unease, building a single season of creeping dread. The tone is eerie and suspicious, with a sense of domestic normalcy constantly undercut by menace. Fans of Twin Peaks, Desperate Housewives and Under the Dome will find resonance in its blend of picture-perfect surfaces, serialized mystery and supernatural threat. Thirteen episodes of a single continuing story make it a compact, binge-friendly supernatural mystery.
