## Synopsis

The Interns (2010-2016) is a Russian workplace sitcom created by Vyacheslav Dusmukhametov and broadcast on TNT. It follows four young medical interns, including Glieb Romanenko (Ilya Glinnikov), Semyon Lobanov (Aleksandr Ilyin Jr) and Varya Chernous (Kristina Asmus), as they stumble through daily hospital life under their mentor, the blunt senior doctor Andrey Bykov (Ivan Okhlobystin). The engine is simple and comic: each episode builds a fresh tangle of misdiagnoses, clumsy procedures, romantic entanglements and clashes with the hospital staff, while the young doctors chase competence and respect. The show runs across four seasons and 278 episodes, a long-running case-of-the-week style comedy rather than a serialized drama. Its atmosphere is loose, irreverent and often breezy, with a warm affection for its ensemble beneath the mockery of institutional chaos. Set in a contemporary Russian city hospital, it draws on the tradition of the ensemble workplace sitcom. Fans of Scrubs and Univer will find a similar mix of hospital absurdity, young colleagues and mentor friction. Its mixed audience reception reflects a show that improved as it aged.
