## Synopsis

The Laser Man (2005) is a Swedish national-television true crime miniseries created by Mikael Marcimain for SVT1. Across three feature-length episodes of roughly 89 minutes each, it dramatizes the fall and winter of 1991 to 1992, when John Ausonius (David Dencik) shot eleven people with immigrant backgrounds. The engine of the story runs on two tracks: the perpetrator's own movements as he plans and carries out each attack, and the detective work of the investigators, including Lennart Thorin (Sten Ljunggren) and Bergkvist (Ralph Carlsson), who piece together a case from scattered crime scenes. The series also reaches back into Ausonius' life from high school onward, showing how the man came to be. Its tone is bleak, tense and procedural, rooted in the grey streets and offices of early 1990s Sweden, with a quiet dread built from routine police work and sudden violence. Because it is a true-events drama rather than a fictional thriller, it carries a sober, documentary-like weight. Viewers who appreciate Zodiac, The Killing and Mindhunter will find a similar fascination with the mechanics of a manhunt and the unsettling mind behind it. It is a single limited run that suits adult viewers seeking grounded, serious crime drama.
