## Synopsis

Raising Hope (2010-2014) is an American network sitcom created by Greg Garcia for FOX. Lucas Neff plays James "Jimmy" Chance, a clueless 24-year-old who wakes up to a one-night stand that turns out to have left him a baby daughter, fathered with a woman later sentenced to death for murder. Jimmy wants to be a decent dad but keeps tripping over his own immaturity, and the engine of each episode is the daily chaos of getting a baby through a crowded home. Martha Plimpton plays his practical mother Virginia, Garret Dillahunt is his easygoing father Burt, and Cloris Leachman is the scene-stealing grandmother Maw Maw, whose eccentric meddling keeps the house loud. Across four seasons of twenty-two-episode runs, the show works as a single-camera-free multi-camera style family comedy built around recurring household schemes, small-town mishaps and loyal neighbors. Its tone is breezy, warm and cozy, with dark premises played for affectionate laughs rather than horror. Fans of Everybody Loves Raymond, Malcolm in the Middle and The Middle will find the same blend of working-class domestic chaos and tender family loyalty, set in present-day rural southern America.
