## Synopsis

Louie (2010-2015) is an American dramedy created by Louis C.K. for FX. Louis C.K. plays a fictionalized version of himself, a stand-up comedian and newly divorced father raising two daughters in New York City, with Pamela Adlon as his close friend Pamela and Hadley Delany and Ursula Parker as his daughters Lilly and Jane. The engine of the show is ordinary life pressing on a struggling performer: a bad date, a custody weekend that goes sideways, a bit that bombs, a kid who needs something he cannot quite provide. Each episode is a loose cluster of vignettes rather than a tightly plotted case, so comedy and grief arrive in the same scene, often in the same breath. Its five seasons are unusually free-form, with long unscripted-feeling stretches, abrupt cuts and surreal detours that feel more like a personal essay than a sitcom. The tone is wry, awkward and melancholic, with a deadpan honesty about loneliness, parenting and self-doubt. Fans of Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Divorce will find resonance in its observational humor and its willingness to let discomfort linger.
