## Synopsis

Children's Hospital (2008-2016) is a United States cable comedy series created by Rob Corddry, Jonathan Stern and David Wain for The WB and Adult Swim. Rob Corddry plays Blake Downs, Ken Marino plays Glenn Richie, and Rob Huebel plays Owen Maestro, a trio of doctors whose ambitions, romances and rivalries keep colliding with the basic duties of caring for sick children. Michael Cera appears as Sal Viscuso, Megan Mullally as the hospital's formidable Chief, and Henry Winkler as Sy Mittleman, with Malin Akerman and Lake Bell rounding out the principal cast. The engine of the series is the gap between the staff's grand self-regard and their incompetence: each short episode, running about twelve minutes, stacks absurd subplots on top of one another, from misguided romances to petty professional feuds, until the hospital is barely functioning. Across seven seasons and ninety-one episodes it stays a parody of medical drama, playing its familiar clichés to extremes in a tone that is irreverent, cynical and gleefully crude. Fans of Scrubs, Community and Party Down will find resonance in its ensemble chaos and sharp, deadpan satire.
