## Synopsis

Murder One (1995-1997) is an American serialized legal drama created by Channing Gibson, Charles H. Eglee and Steven Bochco for ABC. Daniel Benzali plays Ted Hoffman, a highly regarded defense attorney at a prestigious Los Angeles law firm, whose reputation is tested when he takes on Neil Avedon, a young actor struggling with drug and alcohol addiction who is charged with a murder for which Hoffman's earlier client, the wealthy and suspicious Richard Cross (Stanley Tucci), was acquitted. Anthony LaPaglia and Mary McCormack appear among the principal cast of lawyers and investigators working the case alongside him. Rather than a case-of-the-week format, the show is one continuing story across two seasons, with each episode advancing the same murder trial through hearings, strategy sessions, and courtroom confrontations. The engine is the tension between the lawyers' professional duty and their private doubts about their clients, set against the glossy, moneyed world of Los Angeles celebrity. The tone is serious, tense and adult, with a dense, morally uneasy atmosphere. Fans of The Practice and LA Law will find resonance in its blend of courtroom stakes and character-driven legal drama.
