## What critics say

Viewers generally treat this two-part miniseries as an imaginative, darker reworking of the Alice in Wonderland story.

## Synopsis

Alice is a Canadian fantasy miniseries that reimagines the Alice in Wonderland story for adult viewers. A fiercely independent young woman named Alice refuses to accept that her lover has been taken into darkness. Desperate to find him, she puts her trust in a stranger who calls himself White Rabbit, and together they pass through a looking glass into a fantasy realm populated by strange and dangerous figures. The engine of the story is Alice's stubborn determination, while every guide she meets carries hidden motives and the rules of the otherworld bend against her. Told across two episodes forming one continuing quest, the miniseries plays out as a compact, self-contained fairy tale. The tone blends whimsy with unease, with a dreamlike, slightly menacing atmosphere and a theatrical, eccentric flavor. Its romantic loyalty is treated as both a serious and perilous force. Viewers who enjoy fairy tale reinterpretations, darker takes on classic children's stories, and short fantasy miniseries will find resonance in its grown-up approach to a familiar tale.
