## Synopsis

Ranczo (2006-present) is a Polish television comedy-drama series created by Wojciech Adamczyk and broadcast on TVP1. Lucy Wilska (Ilona Ostrowska), a Polish-American woman, inherits her grandmother's country cottage in the fictional small town of Wilkowyje and arrives intending to sell it quickly. Charmed by the village and its residents, she decides to stay, and the series follows her integration among a cast of eccentric locals. Principal characters include Stacho Japycz (Franciszek Pieczka), Jakub 'Kusy' Sokołowski (Paweł Królikowski) and Priest Robert (Bartłomiej Kasprzykowski). The engine of the show is everyday community life: neighborly disputes, local politics, gossip, and the slow negotiations between tradition and newcomers. Each episode is a self-contained slice of village events, while the overarching story of Lucy's place in Wilkowyje accumulates across an ongoing run of more than a decade. The tone is warm, gently satirical and comforting, with humor rooted in character rather than spectacle. Set in contemporary Poland, it has the cozy appeal of a rural ensemble sitcom. Fans of Northern Exposure, Doc Martin and Heartbeat will find resonance in its small town warmth and quirky community.
