## Synopsis

Alias Smith and Jones (1971-1973) is an American Western series created by Glen A. Larson for ABC. Pete Duel plays Hannibal Heyes and Ben Murphy plays Jedediah "Kid" Curry, a pair of cousin outlaws who want to reform and go straight. Their engine is a conditional amnesty from a governor who needs the pact kept quiet for political reasons: they must remain wanted until he can claim they have reformed and warrant clemency. Each episode pits the pair against bounty hunters, lawmen, and old associates who keep dragging them back toward their former trade, with aliases, cons, and narrow escapes filling the frontier roads and towns. Roger Davis appears as Danny Bilson in a recurring role, and the show runs three seasons across fifty episodes, with the later seasons shifting in tone. Set in the 1800s American West, it is a light, good-humoured western with bright photography, playful banter, and a steady sense of adventure. Fans of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Maverick, and The Wild Wild West will find resonance in its outlaw charm and buddy dynamic.
