## Synopsis

Sonny with a Chance (2009-2011) is an American Disney Channel family sitcom created by Steve Marmel. Demi Lovato stars as Sonny Monroe, a Midwestern girl who moves to Los Angeles to join the cast of the kids' sketch comedy show So Random!. Her new castmates include resident teen queen Tawni Hart, suave Nico Harris, funnyman Grady Mitchell and quirky Zora Lancaster. The engine of the series is Sonny's effort to balance fresh friendships with the sketch show's demands while her family adjusts to a very different life in Hollywood. Her chief antagonist is heartthrob Chad Dylan Cooper, star of the rival drama MacKenzie Falls, who insists his dramatic work outranks her comedy. Each 22-minute episode is a self-contained case of backstage mishaps, misunderstandings and sketch rehearsals, playing out over two seasons and 46 episodes. The tone is breezy, cheerful and gently comic, with a wholesome sitcom warmth. Fans of Hannah Montana, iCarly and Wizards of Waverly Place will find the same youthful showbiz energy and family-friendly charm here.
