## Synopsis

Whites (2010) is a British sitcom created by Matt King and Oliver Lansley for BBC Two. Set in the kitchen of a country house hotel in the Hertfordshire countryside, it follows head chef Roland White (Alan Davies), a vain and frequently hapless chef, and his long suffering sous chef Bib (Darren Boyd), who keeps the brigade functioning despite his boss's schemes. Around them orbit Katherine Parkinson as Caroline, Stephen Wight as Skoose, Isy Suttie as Kiki, and Amit Shah as Axel, a crew of colleagues whose rivalries and mishaps turn every dinner service into a small disaster. The engine of the show is simple: Roland wants to be taken seriously as a culinary talent, and the kitchen keeps getting in his way through ego, bad luck and other people's blunders. Each episode of this six-episode single season is a self-contained service-day farce built around a hotel event, a demanding guest or a staffing crisis. Its tone is affectionate and sharply observed, with cringe comedy, awkward banter and a warm undercurrent of loyalty. Fans of Fawlty Towers, The Office and Peep Show will find resonance in its tight British workplace humour and its fondness for hapless characters.
