## Synopsis

The Weekenders (2000-2004) is an American animated comedy series created by Doug Langdale for ABC, with later episodes airing on UPN and Toon Disney. Four middle school friends, Tino (voiced by Jason Marsden), Carver (Phil LaMarr), Lor (Grey DeLisle) and Tish (Kath Soucie), spend their free weekends inventing new games, schemes and adventures around their neighborhood. Tino's mom (Lisa Kaplan) and a Pizza Guy (Jeff Bennett) recur as familiar background figures. The engine of each episode is simple: a small plan takes shape, obstacles of adolescence get in the way, and the friends improvise their way through. Across four seasons and 73 short episodes of roughly eleven minutes each, the show works as an episodic run of self-contained outings rather than one continuing story. Its tone is light, cheerful and warm, with a focus on loyalty, creativity and the feeling of unstructured freedom that defines childhood weekends. Fans of Recess, Rugrats and Hey Arnold! will find the same playful, kid-centered comedy and affectionate view of school-age friendship.
