## Synopsis

Black Cat (2005-2006) is a Japanese animated action adventure series created for TBS, adapted from the manga and produced by GONZO. Bounty hunter Sven Vollfied (voiced by Keiji Fujiwara) is barely scraping by when he crosses paths with the enigmatic Black Cat, also known as Train Heartnet (voiced by Takashi Kondo), and the young bio-weapon Eve, voiced by Misato Fukuen. The engine of the show is simple and propulsive: the three newcomers must stay alive while being hunted by the Chronos Numbers and by the Taoist revolutionary group called the Apostles of the Star. Each episode is built around a fresh job, a bounty, a standoff or a chase through a city of gunmen and schemers, with the gunfights staged in a playful, wisecracking register. The single season runs twenty-three episodes as one continuing story, giving the adventure a steady forward pull. Its tone mixes breezy banter with tense shootouts and a loose, reluctant found family at the center. Fans of Cowboy Bebop, Trigun and Baccano! will find a similar blend of stylized action, offbeat characters and pulpy adventure.
