## Synopsis

Golden Boy (1995-1996) is a Japanese adult animated comedy based on a manga, released as a short run of half-hour episodes. Its protagonist, Kintaro Oe, is a 25-year-old who left Tokyo University and now travels by bicycle to learn everything he can about the world. Each episode narrates his misadventures through a fresh encounter in a new town, a workplace mishap, or a detour that spirals into lewd escapades. Kintaro's engine is restless appetite: he wants experience and, above all, women. The tone is raucous, brash and deliberately uncomfortable, with broad slapstick and frank sexual humor that some viewers find hilarious and others find predatory. Fans of ecchi comedy will recognize the otaku-era sensibility and the lineage of Japanese sex comedy anime. Its self-contained episodes make it easy to dip into, though its appeal depends heavily on tolerance for the protagonist's conduct and its adult humor.
